A collective of passionate beekeepers reflecting the rich diversity of French terroirs

We are a unique group of beekeepers spread across all regions of France, united as a cooperative since 1958. “Les Compagnons du Miel” offers you honeys of exceptional quality, directly from the producers. From the forests of Corrèze to the valleys of the Jura, from the lavender fields of Provence to the gorges of the Tarn, we invite you to savour our terroirs in all their subtle nuances through our honeys with character.

Diverse backgrounds, a shared passion, identical values

Through the unique « Les Compagnons du Miel » initiative, we represent the leading French honey producers. Each of us, according to our personality, farm size, and approach, works alongside our bees to offer you the best of Nature through our honeys and contribute to a healthier environment, guided by our Charter of Ethics and Progress.

The many roles of the beekeeper

Guardians of the bees

Our primary role is to be beekeepers—guardians of the bees. We care for our winged friends both during the beekeeping season and throughout their winter hibernation. Their well-being and survival extend far beyond our profession, as the preservation of our environment depends on them.

An expert on the environment

During the beekeeping season, we must thoroughly understand our regions and every blooming cycle. This knowledge enables us to manage our apiaries and allow bees to forage on a variety of flowers throughout the year. Bees love a diverse diet too!

Breeder

Part of our work involves breeding bees - specifically, queen bees! We raise and select queen bees to either replace aging queens or form new colonies. The goal is to enhance the hive's vitality, honey production, and resistance to disease.

Logistics specialist

Beekeeping requires careful logistics, especially when moving hives between different flowering areas throughout the seasons to ensure ideal foraging grounds.

Equipment operator

Handling heavy hive boxes, honey supers, and barrels requires physical effort, precision, and rigorous care for both the equipment and the bees.

Farm manager

We handle honey processing at multiple levels. On our farms, we extract honey from hive frames into barrels. These barrels are then delivered to our own Naturalim packaging facility, where the honey is tested by our Honey Quality Laboratory and bottled according to strict standards.

Bottler

We participate in honey packaging at several stages. From extracting honey on the farm to sending barrels to our Naturalim workshop, we ensure every jar meets rigorous quality and safety standards.

Quality manager

High quality is our top priority. It shines through every stage of our process—from harvesting under our unique Charter of Ethics and Progress to the full traceability of all our apiaries, shared with our Naturalim facility. In the end, you know exactly what you buy and enjoy.

Educator

We teach people of all ages! Our children often join us in the apiaries during the season to discover the fascinating world of bees. We also train aspiring beekeepers eager to learn the craft before starting out. Some join our farms, while others start their own operations and often join our cooperative!

Sower

To support our bees and all pollinators, we establish partnerships with farmers to plant nectar-rich floral strips (blooming in Spring and Summer) and cover crops (blooming in Autumn). This helps diversify and strengthen food supplies for sustainable agriculture.

Finally, being cooperative members is one of our greatest strengths. By uniting within Les Compagnons du Miel, we are stronger together and prove that it is possible to combine respect for bees, producers, and consumers.
