Engagés pour le futur
Our Cooperative, Les Compagnons du Miel, is deeply committed to building a better environment for current and future generations.
We focus our actions around three key pillars: the beekeeping sector, the agri-food industry, and our consumers.
Committed to the beekeeping sector
Since its creation, our Cooperative has defended the beekeeping industry by guaranteeing 100% quality and traceability, total transparency, sustainable beekeeping, and fair prices for both producers and consumers.
A pioneering charter for sustainable beekeeping
In line with our French fair-trade certification (Agri-Éthique France), we guarantee total quality and traceability through our pioneering Progress and Ethics Charter, audited by Certipaq.
Our Charter relies on 5 main requirements:
- Total traceability: Full tracking of honey, from the harvest apiary to the barrel delivered to the Cooperative.
- Compliant practices: Complete tracking and regulatory compliance of all beekeeping practices.
- Preserved quality: Protecting honey quality at every stage of production.
- Ethical standards: Ensuring ethical practices that respect both bees and consumers.
- Collective engagement: Active participation in the Cooperative’s collective initiatives.
Our Charter focuses on two continuous improvement goals:
- Sustainable Beekeeping: Every beekeeper commits to sustainable and responsible local production.
- Environmental Responsibility: Every beekeeper optimizes their travel and technical routines to reduce environmental impact.
Since 2021, all our beekeepers have been audited on-farm by the certification body Certipaq to verify compliance with every criterion.
« We want to produce honey that is as responsible as possible—humanely, economically, and ecologically. Our commitment to the Agri-Éthique approach, backed by our charter and audits, is the concrete reflection of this strong vision. »
Olivier, beekeeper Les Compagnons du Miel, in the Tarn region.
Committed to the agri-food industry
While we care deeply about beekeeping and our bees, our actions also extend to the agricultural world! As primary pollinators, bees affect our honey production and, above all, agriculture as a whole. Flowers, fruits, vegetables… our bees’ impact is essential.
That is why we work on numerous projects to develop and support the agri-food industry as a whole.
« Within the Cooperative, the ‘melliferous seeds’ project was launched a few years ago, and we are proud of the nearly 270 hectares of flowering fallows and cover crop mixes that will be planted in 2024 thanks to the efforts of our cooperative members. »
Jérôme, beekeeper Les Compagnons du Miel, in the Nievre region.
The truth about what you consume
Collectif En Vérité is an association of over 60 brands demanding mandatory food transparency for all food brands.
We joined this collective at its creation in 2022 because being transparent with you about what you buy and consume is essential. Since our inception, our Cooperative’s objective has been full transparency, with 100% certified origin and traceability, thanks to our unique Progress and Ethics Charter (audited externally), our in-house laboratory that authenticates every honey, and our Jura packaging facility providing full hive-to-jar traceability.
Transparency and origin
We adhere to the Origin’info project led by Olivia Grégoire alongside other dedicated brands in Collectif En Vérité.
Collectif En Vérité has worked tirelessly since its creation to enforce true food transparency for all food brands. Origin transparency is a key pillar in reaching this goal. Joining this project is a natural extension of our commitment to transparency. You have the right to know what you buy and what you eat!
Committed to you!
Since its creation, Les Compagnons du Miel has invested in raising public awareness about beekeeping and its importance for biodiversity: opening farm doors, hosting visits to our laboratory and Naturalim facility in Jura, exhibiting at trade shows (Salon de l’Agriculture, SIAL, Salon Gourmet…), hosting in-store events, educating younger generations in schools and cultural spaces, and sharing content on social media…
« Throughout the year, we meet consumers in stores to share our story, highlighted by our Compagnons du Miel event day. In 2022, 45 of our beekeepers visited 23 Auchan supermarkets in Paris over two days. It was a great opportunity to showcase our work through education and dialogue. It’s a team effort—we share the work of promoting our values through our honeys. »
François, beekeeper Les Compagnons du Miel, in Aveyron region.
